Like just about everything in 2020, the holiday season may look different this year. From virtual office parties, swapping fancy fêtes for small outdoor shindigs, simple celebrations at home instead of traveling to see loved ones, many traditions are adjusting to keep the holidays as safe (and special) as possible.

Lindy Deal, UpWest’s Curator of Comfort, shares her top picks for holiday styles that bring a little extra comfort and joy, no matter what may come your way this season.

Soft, Stylish Sweaters

From festive patterns to sustainable yarns, there's a perfect sweater for everyone on your list and every occasion on your calendar (even if it’s just curling up with a good book). “I’m loving the Fairisle Mock Neck, Super Soft Turtleneck, Winter Plaid Mock Neck, and High-Low Turtleneck for her. Cozy Crewneck, Contrast Crewneck, Warm Mock Neck, Bundle-Up Turtleneck for him,” says Deal. “All of these sweaters have such great style, but they’re so incredibly soft and comfy enough to lounge around in.”

For a little extra coverage, the Curved Hem Crewneck Sweater is tunic-length, so it pairs well with leggings or denim. For a duster length, the Long Weekend Sweater Cardigan is an ideal layering piece on those days you need to feel wrapped up in something good. With deep pockets, a roomy fit and lightweight, sustainable yarns, it’s a go-to sweater all winter long.

In-Frame Flair

For those virtual office parties, holiday happy hour FaceTimes, or Thanksgiving Zooms, “Think about adding some jazz to what they’ll see on-camera,” says Deal. “The Bobble Sleeve Sweater has a subtle but playful sleeve, the men’s Lodge Cardigan has the best chunky collar, and the Pointelle sweater has the prettiest pattern.”

Jewelry and hair accessories also add some fun flair. From a simple quartz stud earring to a statement Confetti Hoop, or a layered necklace look, jewelry can perfectly polish your look. The accessory scarf, which can be worn in your hair or around your neck offers some easy pops of color.

Ready. Set. Snuggle.

When it comes to holiday traditions, matching flannel PJ sets are a must. With the Cabin Check PJ Top, Cabin Check PJ Short, Cabin Check PJ Jogger — paired with a Cozy Up Waffle Henley, Cozy Legwarmers or Fireside Moccasin — you can give a set to loved ones and a pair to yourself.

Outdoor Comforts

Whether you’re headed outside to reconnect with nature, or have some socially-distanced fireside time with friends, you can stay just as warm and comfy as you are on your couch. “The Sherpa Puffer fits like a bomber jacket, but feels like a blanket,” says Deal. “It’s a cozy take on a classic bomber jacket, plus it has really functional slip-on backpack straps for those on-the-go kind of days.”

You can also bundle up in style with a sherpa-lined Quilted Parka. It’s made with a weather-resistant outer shell, plus a full zipper, snaps for the cold winter wind, and bonus: A messenger strap that keeps your hands free.

Stay outside and cozy in this updated Sherpa Mock Neck Pullover, now with contrast details and chest pocket for extra style and functionality. “I love the snap button collar and the bungee hem on this that lets you regulate your warmth,” adds Deal.

Added Comforts

Whether it’s a stocking stuffer for someone special, or you want to add a little coziness to your winter days, there are lots of small comforts to give yourself or others. For the adventurer, some Stay Handy Gloves, Cozy Up Scarf, or the Snow Day Bobble Beanie. For the homebody, a Super-Soft Sock or Fireside Slippers, Paddywax Candle, or Reed Diffuser with some festive Peppermint Oil. For the hostess with the mostest, an Ultimate Bar Book, a Stainless Steel Straw SetTwo-Sided Puzzle, or Dinner Party Candle

As you navigate new plans around timeless traditions, and make the best of the holidays this year, we raise a glass from our UpWest family to yours. No matter how you find comfort this season, we hope it's filled with endless joy.
