As the hot Summer days drift into the crisp days of Fall, it’s time to get cozy.

Fall is when we instinctively reach for more cozy sweaters, fireside fleece, sherpa slippers and warm blankets. But when the sun’s not done setting on Summer and it’s not quite Fall yet, we look to these transitional weather wardrobe must-haves to keep us comfy.

Layers are key for when the temps jump from season to season within a few hours. To start, go for a soft waffle tee, pocket tee, side twist tee, flutter sleeve tee, or peplum tee as a good base. Then, layer on a cardigan, short-sleeve or long-sleeve flannel, or hoodie. And throw a packable rain jacket in your bag or backpack so you’re prepared for any pop-up showers.

Want to get even cozier? Opt to start with a Layering Turtleneck, or a long-sleeve ribbed peplum tee, waffle tee shirt hoodie, henley tee, curved hem sweater, or twist-front sweatshirt. Lots of crewneck options too, like the lightweight waffle crewneck tee, crewneck sweatshirt or oversized crewneck sweater. Layer on a super soft sherpa jacket, sherpa-lined cardi, or even the Men’s 4-in-1 Jacket when the temps start to cool, and you’ll be as comfy as ever.

Dresses are also perfect layering pieces. The Wear Everywhere Sweatshirt Dress, Easy V-Neck Dress, Midi T-Shirt Dress, and Flannel Button-Down Dress are all “wear now” ready, with a denim or corduroy jacket on when you need some extra warmth.

This year, for both men and women, sweatshirts are taking center stage with a fun (and functional) range of options. The Go Anywhere Sweatshirt and Hoodie Sweatshirt are classics, but there’s now also the short-sleeved sweatshirt tee, Reversible Twist-Front, and Mockneck Sweatshirt Dress. You’ll see an oversized sweatshirt with bike shorts, adjustable cowl neck sweatshirts with leggings, raglan sweatshirt and shorts, sweatshirt cardigan with cargo pants, a dressed up peplum sweatshirt with shorts, or a color block sweatshirt with jeans.

Sustainable sweaters are another big trend as we head into the new season. At UpWest, 40% of what we carry is sustainably made, and all new sweaters are sustainable. This comfy Open Weave Cardigan, Lightweight Cropped Cardi or boxy Cropped Cardigan, V-Neck Sweater, Animal Print Curved Hem Sweater, Sweater Hoodie, Colorblock Sweater, Oversized Cable Knit Sweater and Dress Up Cardigan, among many other new arrivals, are all made with the sustainable fabrics like recycled polyester, organic cotton, and recycled nylon.

Top picks for bottoms include the Corduroy Short, Hemp All Day Short, and the All Day Denim Jogger for men. For women, the Wide-Leg Plisse Pants, Hemp High-Waisted Wide Leg Pant, and Unwind Pant give you coverage and breathability. Pair your sweater with a Hemp High-Waisted Pleated Short, Cord Short, or some sustainably made DL1961 denim.

Can’t forget about sleepwear. Washable satin is a favorite bedtime fabric because it’s super soft and easy to wash. The Sleep Tee goes great with Leg Warmers for a cozy night at home, while the Unwind Fleece Jogger can be worn to bed or out for errands. Sleep sets set the tone for a coordinated, comfy and restful night. The Tulip Hem Sleep Tank and Pant, Leopard PJ Henley and Shorts, Relaxed PJ Jogger and Tee, Smocked Sleep Tank and Short, Cozy Ribbed Lounge Tank and Shorts are all set for a perfect night’s sleep, which is always in-season.
